After-school and Holiday club

We also provide a collection service to and from local schools and we are pleased to offer this service to children of primary school age.

When children arrive after school we can offer tea, after which they can participate in games and activities or find a quiet area for homework.

During the school holidays, we offer a full range of daily activities and outings for this age group. Our after-school and holiday care services may be used on a full-time, part-time or occasional basis. Please contact us to discuss your particular requirements and for further information on this service.

Outdoor area

The outdoor area is an enclosed area, which is accessible from the toddler room, bathroom or the secured gate. We have similar activities in the garden as to what is available indoors. The outdoor  area is checked each time before the children go out to play.

In all areas of the nursery there is consistency. We follow four overarching principles to help shape the practice within the setting, these are:

  • A UNIQUE CHILD, we believe every child is unique.
  • POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS, to encourage children to be strong and independent
  • ENABLING ENVIRONMENTS, to help children learn and develop.
  • LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT, children learn and develop in different ways at different rates, we believe all children should be treated equally.

Rooms

Within the nursery, each age group has its own separately equipped unit so that care and activities can be specifically structured to the needs and development stage of the children within that particular age range.

As your child becomes older we offer a more structured routine, so that we can provide a purposeful and varied day containing a wide range of activities. Our day incorporates both ‘adult-directed’ and ‘child-led’ activities, as well as periods of indoor and outdoor ‘free-play’.

Due to high staff:child ratios our staff are able to work closely alongside the children, discussing and encouraging their overall skills and development.

All rooms are comprised of various areas to develop different skills and all activities are set out in an attractive manner to encourage the children to access them.

The EYFS is made up of seven areas which all of our activities are based on, these are:

  • Communication and language
  • Physical
  • Personal, social and emotional
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

The first three areas are the most important for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive, which is why we incorporate the other four areas at a later stage in children’s development.

When children arrive after school we can offer tea, after which they can participate in games and activities or find a quiet area for homework.
